A popular song among Liberals now days is “Dear Mr. President” by Pink. I could link to her site but I don’t believe she deserves it. Back to the issue. This song asks a few questions that epitomize the liberal perspective, and shows how little they really understand. I would like to briefly address a few of the key questions it asks and explain why or Dear President is right on target with these issues.
What do you feel when you see the homeless on the street? I’m not quite sure what the president has to do with the right of an individual to choose the street as a home, but the unemployment rate under his presidency is lower than it has ever been, jobs pay more even before the minimum wage hike than they ever have, and there is a tremendous amount of opportunity. I realize that a large portion of the homeless are not mentally capable of sustaining a job, but we have closed down many of the institutions that helped these people because the liberal establishment felt that it was inhumane. Another big portion of the homeless are there due to substance abuse, gee I wonder which party supports the free use of drugs, and is the least supportive of teaching and strengthening families?
How do you feel when a mother can’t say good bye?
Probably much the same as he did when Clinton’s weak stand on terrorist led to the deaths of over 2000 Americans on 9-11. I’m shure because I’ve seen it he is deeply compassionate and deeply saddened when a soldier dies. Despite the sadness, he looks a the situation and thinks about what is best for our country, and what is best for the world. You can criticize all you want about his foreign policy but we have not had a mainland attack since 9-11, and it is not because the terrorists have not tried. Apparently he is doing something right. I always find it ironic that the Musicians and actors are so supportive of the terrorist position. It is actually them who are the most hated among Islam nations because of there liberal points of view. Remember, being gay in an Islamic country is punished by the death penalty. For some reason they have the mistaken notion that if leave the Middle East, they will leave us alone.
There is much more to discuss about this song and it’s issues but it will have to wait for another post.
There are many rumors going around on the internet that CNN corespondent Lou Dobbs may make a bid for the White House as a third party candidate. Based solely on his immigration views I think he would be great but in his heart he is still a liberal. This speculation creates an interesting question. If he were to enter the race based on his popularity he would take a significant portion of votes, but where would they come from? Would it hurt the Republicans or Democrats, or both?
I believe that the biggest losers would be the Democrats, but he would also take a chunk of the Republican base. Is it possible for him to actually win as a third party Candidate? I know everybody has thought based on previous experience that third parties only siphon votes from the big two, and have no real chance of winning. This still may be true, but Lou would put this theory to the test. He seems to be more down the middle than any third party candidate we have ever seen. In the past the third parties have been made up of people that are just plain crazy, or candidates that were ever further right, or further left than the primary candidates. Lou would be running right down the center, and based on public opinion he is on the right side of many issues. I still don’t think he could win but he could make things interesting.
I’m listening to a debate on CNN regarding the low poll numbers of congress. They are now discussing the “Tragedy” of our broken government. It seems like when our government is running efficiently we end up with more government programs, more spending, and less opposition to the expanding government. I for one am grateful that our government is not working efficiently. It simply is putting the brakes on reckless government spending and expansion. I admit I would like the government work together on a few key issues. I would love to see taxes cut in half or even eliminated, I would like to see all federal funding for arts, education, and social programs cut. But these things are highly unlikely. Based on the things our congress and president want to do and are pushing, I relieved to know little is getting accomplished.
Over the last week we have heard a lot about the writers strike. The thing that I wonder is Who Cares? Although I have a few television shows that I watch on a regular basis, but if they don’t come up with new material there is no big loss. Although I don’t think it will go on that long, I believe that the strike could go on for years without much impact on our daily lives. In the end they hurt themselves. A majority of the media I now watch now is on the internet by independent publishers. The union relies on very large media companies to pay outrageous rates for even mediocre work.
In my humble opinion the strike is actually a good thing, especially for conservatis. For at least a little while we won’t have any fresh liberal dribble.
As a little experiment I posted two similar questions on a popular survey site. The first question was “Do you support our government developing a national health care plan?” The answer to this question was a significant 66% supporting a national health care plan. You need to keep in mind that liberals on this site outnumber conservatives significantly. The second question was as one commenter put “a loaded question”. I decided to describe the National Health Care program in as blunt of terms as possible. It read “Do you really think we should threaten the rich with jail time if they don’t pay my medical bills?” Yes, I know that this flies in the face of being fair in a survey. But it is an accurate depiction of what a national socialized medicine program would be. The rich which pay 90% of the taxes collected in this country would have to pay for the medical bills of about half of all Americans that pay little to no federal income tax. It’s not surprising based on the question that 75% did not support the second question. This raises the question, how many government programs would we support if we took the sugar coating of and looked at what we were really doing?
At first I thought this was funny…then I realized the awful truth of it.
Be sure to read all the way to the end!

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he’s fed.
Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.
Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,

Tax his tears.
Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass
Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won’t be done
Till he has no dough.
When he screams and hollers,
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He’s good and sore.
Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he’s laid.
Put these words
upon his tomb,
” Taxes drove me to my doom…”
When he’s gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?
Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago,
and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
What the hell happened? Can you spell “politicians!”
And I still have to “press 1″ for English.
I hope this goes around THE USA at least 100 times
Japanese doctor says, “Medicine in my country is so advanced that we can take a kidney out of one man, put it in another, and have him out looking for work in six weeks.”
A German doctor says, “That is nothing. We can take a lung out of one person, put it in another, and have him out looking for work in four weeks.”
A British doctor says, “In my country medicine is so advanced that we can take half a heart out of one person, put it in another, and have both of them out looking for work in two weeks.”
The American doctor, not to be outdone, interjected, “You guys are way behind. We are about to take a woman with no brains, put her in the White House, and then half the country will be out looking for work.

While recently reviewing my states senators’ votes, I found that they have both voted to increase the statutory limit on our national dept from 9 trillion to 9.8 trillion dollars. Although 800 billion dollars may not seem like much to our congress, it is a significant amount of money. At some point, it is essential for individuals to live within their means. The same should be true of the government.
Our congress spends little time or effort in looking to cut spending. The federal government provides services that go far beyond its constitutional mandate, and even beyond what any reasonable person would expect. Our founding fathers would roll over in their graves if they knew at what rates we are taxed, or saw the size of our government. The sad thing is that even in the face of unprecedented spending, the issue that will define the 2008 campaign will be a health care package that will raise taxes even more and increase our dept.
When will we realize it is time to cut back? When will our congress be willing to cut programs and reduce budgets to our federal agencies? We can blame the politicians, but in reality, the problem is with the people. We as a society are expecting the government to provide more for us. We expect the government to fund our schools, build our roads, support the arts, provide health benefits, take care of the poor, bail us out from failures, help us recover from disasters, and protect our freedoms. Granted the government should play a role in some of these areas, but we as a society need to look first to ourselves, then to our families, and then to the community to help us overcome our problems or challenges. Until we are willing to solve a few of our own problems, rather than looking for solutions from the government this ridiculous trend of spending will continue.
In a previous article I discussed how the No Child Left Behind Law was seriously flawed and how it flies in the face of conservative values. I keep that position but I have read an article today about something that both of the major teacher unions are vigorously fighting against. It seems that there as a provision in the bill that gives a bonus to teachers who teach their students well. Wow! There is something that actually makes sense in the new law. What a novel concept, rewarding teachers for being a good teacher. Apparently according to the Unions this is appalling. Both the AFT and the NEA could never support anything that would differentiate between good and bad teachers. Who cares that in every area except education and government, employees compensation is strongly tied to performance. One statement made the teachers unions logic clear they said that they oppose any measure that provides teachers compensation without first going through collective negotiations. The unions are simply afraid of loosing control. How would it go over among there membership if a teacher was given a bonus without the union fighting for it. Maybe that employee would begin to wonder if the union is really of value to them. I have been a teacher for 10 years, and it only took me three to realize that the unions were far more detrimental to education than they are a help. I found out that the liability insurance that they provide can be purchased for a fraction of what my union dues were. The Unions will fight against anything and everything that reduces there power or influence, even if it is to the detriment of our teachers, and our students. For them power is the most important factor.
Many of the liberal talkers keep going on about how Bush, and republicans are politicizing the tragic events of 9-11. Perhaps they are right if they means that the administration is using the memories of those tragic events to help push through legislation and policies that make our country safer. If it means that they incite the memories of that day to stir patriotism and support for our troops, our police, our firefighters, and our emergency medical personnel. If it means that the brutality of that terrible day is used to remind us of the cruelty of our enemy, and there willingness to kill each and every one of us. If it means that we remind people of the dangers that await us if a weak terrorism policy comes into play. Well I guess conservatives are politicizing 9-11. How dare we care about our Americans enough to use the memories of this tragedy to make our country a better safer place?
